When a dental emergency happens, the last thing you need is to wait for one of our dental services — Vinings Modern Dentistry is here to get you seen quickly, treated carefully, and out of pain as fast as possible. Dr. Jay Lloyd sees emergency patients with the same level of precision and honest communication you would expect from any appointment at our practice.
At Vinings Modern Dentistry, we do our best to accommodate emergency patients the same day they call, because we understand that pain and dental trauma cannot wait for a scheduled opening.
For patients in significant pain or with dental anxiety, Dr. Lloyd’s sedation training means we can keep you comfortable throughout emergency treatment, no matter how complex the case.
A dental emergency is any situation involving significant pain, trauma, or damage that requires prompt attention to prevent further harm. This includes severe toothaches, cracked or broken teeth, knocked-out teeth, lost crowns or fillings, dental abscesses, and injuries to the soft tissue of the mouth. If you are unsure whether your situation qualifies, call us and we will help you determine the right next step.
Not every dental situation requires a trip to the emergency room, and knowing the difference can save you time and money. As a general rule, if you are experiencing severe tooth pain, a knocked-out tooth, a broken restoration, or a soft tissue injury, call our office first; these are situations we can handle directly and often on the same day. However, if you are experiencing difficulty breathing or swallowing, uncontrolled bleeding, or significant jaw trauma, go to the nearest emergency room immediately, as these require medical attention beyond the scope of a dental office.
If you are experiencing a dental emergency, call our office as soon as possible so we can assess your situation and get you seen quickly. For a knocked-out tooth, handle it by the crown rather than the root, keep it moist, and get to our office within an hour for the best chance of saving it. For a dental abscess or severe infection, do not wait as these conditions can spread and become serious if left untreated.
In the meantime, over-the-counter pain relief can help manage discomfort, and a cold compress applied to the outside of the face can reduce swelling. Dr. Lloyd will walk you through exactly what to do when you call.
Dr. Lloyd brings advanced training in oral surgery, IV sedation training, and CBCT imaging to every emergency case, which means complex situations can often be diagnosed and treated in the same visit rather than requiring multiple referrals. His approach to emergency care is the same as his approach to everything else: honest, thorough, and focused entirely on what is best for you.
We use CBCT imaging and digital diagnostics to quickly and accurately assess the extent of dental trauma or infection, so treatment decisions are made with the full picture in hand.
Dr. Lloyd’s oral surgery training means extractions, abscess drainage, and other urgent procedures can be handled right here at Vinings Modern Dentistry without sending you to a separate specialist.
We know dental emergencies are stressful. From the moment you call, our team is focused on getting you comfortable, informed, and cared for as quickly and thoroughly as possible.
Schedule your appointment today and experience personalized dental care that puts your comfort first. Healthy teeth. Confident you.
